Couldn't be any better! (2009-05-10)
I have used this Gameshark at least 20 times since I bought it. Each time I played for at least 20-30 minutes. No freezes, no hangs, nothing but pure fun and it exceeded my expectations.

I hate to offend some of the review posters but it looks to me like some of these are under 16 years of age, who perhaps need a bit more experience and patience. When you buy an item like this that modifies coding in a game you have to be extremely careful what you type in.

First thing I did was go to the official Gameshark website. It says "if the gameshark gives you a warning that you have too many codes it will freeze, DO NOT PRESS START (as the Gameshark itself recommends) but turn off the game instead"

I know it is tough to deal with mislead instructions. BUT you can't go wrong when you turn the console off. If something doesn't work, or the game looks funny, DO NOT SAVE, do not turn the Gameshark off, turn the whole system off. Note that I emphasize in DO NOT TURN THE GAMESHARK OFF, I mean it, you should have no reason to turn the Gameshark off, instead turn the GBA off. This is my third Gameshark, I owned the Monster Brain and the Game Xploder. I never ruined any of my games.

After 3 years using the Gameshark 3.0 with my Pokemon Crystal game, my son and friends (about 12 years old) somehow managed to crash the game. Needless to say the Poke Crystal was fried.

Bottom line, if you don't know what you're doing, consult someone who knows how to work it. Or perhaps and adult can help you work it properly. Dealing with coding is serious business, and these games are nothing short of a micro computer. You need to do the right things otherwise they will crash.

If you are in doubt, just don't get it then, or work with a spare game.

gameshark helped my game (2009-04-09)
i think the gameshark is cool because i can use all the cheats on my games and i can enter new games in the shark and put other codes in it. i use it alot. i have SP and DS systems and games.

Gameboy Advance SP GameShark (2009-02-17)
The product worked great. This is an older device for use in Gameboy advance. Most kids today use the DS, but my kids also like to play with the Advance. This was hard to find anywhere else but I'm glad Amazon still carries it.

Worked with all my kid's games without any problems. My kids also were able to look up custom codes from the internet and prgram them into this device which was also a very nice feature.

Misleading customer image? (2009-01-29)
The customer image is misleading and therefore the person I allowed to order this did not get what they expected. However the item actually shown by seller is what I am rating.

The instrustion manual clearly states that using too many codes will have adverse effects. There is also a certain way to remove games from this to keep the item from getting scratched and unable to be read by the GBA. When used correctly this is a great item and deserves great reviews.

Do NOT buy this - It breaks after 1 use!!! (2009-01-09)
For some reason, this product will break after 1 use in a game boy advance. I bought this item, played it 1 time, and then it broken after rebooting. What it is is that Nintendo made different chips that after there chips enter the slot, they will break.

If you put it into your GBA after 1 Use, you will be prompted with a White Screen of Death. You will not be able to fix this.

DO NOT BUY!!!!

Product Description
Nintendo Gameboy. Pokemon Special Pikachu EDITION.
Editorial Review
While it's basically the same game as the previously released Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue, Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition features enhancements that make it the best version yet. In all three versions, the player is on a quest to become the World's Greatest Pokémon Trainer, with exploration and Pokémon battles (think advanced paper-scissors-rock) factoring heavily into the gameplay. While the game world is the same in all three versions, the Pokémon you encounter vary from version to version; the underlying goal of collecting all 151 Pokémon can only be met by trading Pokémon via Link Cable with another player with a different Pokémon version. (Players can also battle against one another using the Link Cable setup.)

Pokémon Yellow follows the TV cartoon series more closely than the other versions. Your first Pokémon in Yellow is Pikachu, and he travels alongside you as opposed to inside a Pokéball (like most Pokémon). Pikachu's mood can be displayed virtual pet style: keeping him happy is important, as his mood affects certain events in the game. In addition to the inclusion of other TV show elements like Team Rocket, new battle modes between players are available as well as a secret game called Pikachu's Beach.

If you haven't played any of the Pokémon games before, Pokémon Yellow is the best place to start. But while Pokémaniacs will go gaga over Yellow's new features, less enthusiastic veterans of Red and Blue may not find the extras to be quite so special. --Joe Hon

Pros:

  • Best version yet of the highly addictive Pokémon game
  • Pikachu's moods raise the game's cuteness bar to an all-new level
  • Features new battle modes between players
  • Includes Pikachu's Beach secret game
Cons:
  • Pokémon battles can be repetitive at times
  • New features may not be enough for some Pokémon veterans

Great Game (2009-05-27)
My son loves Pokemon and had to have the one with Pikachu in it. I think he's going to end up with all of the versions for his GBA SP.

Could not have been happier with the service (2009-05-13)
This was the best experience of purchasing something online for me. And I have purchased a lot. It came in a timely matter - way before it was promised. It was in great condition. I have heard no complaints from my son who is the one who plays the game so it works well. I had no trouble getting in touch with the seller which I loved because I have had problems with that in the past with other purchasers. And knowing my purchase helped someone adopt a child make it that much better! If I was ever looking for something else this would be the first website I would go to! Kudos to you! Janice Peden

Shocking Results (2009-03-16)
Special Pikachu addition of pokemon that came out way before gameboy color hit the shelves. Plays just as the original gameboy games, however unlike other reviews there is is something missing.

Remember that special "pikachu surfing" event? Well you can't get that ingame. That's right, meaning you would have to call nintendo and take it up to them for them to "install" the hardware into the game! What a money-milker. Very disappointing as a child, as I have wanted to play that game specifically for that purpose and the ability to catch "mew". This is as close to the series for the original 3, so if your into collecting these, get the yellow version. Interacting with pikachu is cute, but be warned how his mood changes can affect battles if you use him...

And it seems that they have taken out the "Indingo" pokemon, or "virus" it seems. It was said catching this pokemon (which was literally nothing more than a scrambled block with two eyes on it that make a polygon noise) would "erase" the save data on the game! I don't recall running into this pokemon, that can be found in the sea near the island. This game is old, so don't pay more than a reasonable used price.

Kids love it! (2009-01-28)
I bought this for one of my kids, because they had it in the past and it got lost. We got it again, and they love it!

Pokemon Pikachu Edition (2008-12-02)
My son is having so much fun with this game. He loves that his Pikachu follows him everywhere and that he can check his Pikachu's mood (ie: sad, happy). A great game.

Pokemon Leaf Green (2009-06-23)
These games are great for the gameboy advance, being that they last for ages before the kids can get bored with them as there are so many levels and different pokemon to battle and collect. The downside, and it's a big one, is that there's so much content, the gameboy advance cannot deal with it. If it's not the content, then it's the game itself as it crashes on a regular basis which has caused many tears to be shed as pokemon and level achievements have been totally wiped. This seems to be the problem with a few of the pokemon GBA games. This game however has been played on the nintendo DS lite with no problems.

Pure Nostalgia (2009-05-08)
Boy does this game bring back childhood memories. My first ever game was Pokemon Yellow. The sprites in Leaf Green are almost the same as Yellow, and the battles seem quicker than in the new Platinum. Other than that the game mechanics are the same. Some say it's outdated, I say why fix it if it ain't broke. If future Pokemon remakes are this good, I'm gonna pick up the Pokemon Gold remake when it comes out next year on day one! A++

Pokemon Leaf Green (2009-03-20)
I love pokemon. Great game. Alot of fun and very addicting. I just wish they would make a game like this for the bigger systems. One that you can actually go and catch pokemon like on the TV show. Until they get smart enough to do that, I will continue to have fun with what they have out.

Fun (2009-03-12)
It's as fun as I thought it would be. I like how the Pokemon look. Some parts challenging, but overall very fun.

Another Great Pokemon Game (2009-01-05)
I owned the original Pokemon Blue many years ago and loved it, so I was surprised to find they had remade it for the GBA. It's essentially the same game, so if you loved the original Pokemon games, you'll love this one. The differences are in the features they added, which include islands from other games, the National Dex, Deoxys, and the like.

Product Description
Pokemon Ruby takes you into an immersive and more exciting new adventure as you travel and train to become a Pokemon master! Special features like connectivity with future GameCube games Link cable support for up to 4 players Supports e-Reader Only for Game Boy Advance
Amazon.com
Pokémon Ruby's updated graphics with weather effects, amazing sound, more than 200 Pokémon with over 100 new species--as well as its faithful adherence to the existing series of Pokémon games--makes for a welcome evolution in the series.

First, the game has a lot in common with Pokémon games Silver, Gold, and Crystal. For example, players can choose to be a boy or a girl trainer, an internal clock sets events at certain times, and you’re the game's handy-dandy Pokédex helps players keep track of the many stats. You're main goal is still to beat all the Gym Trainers and become the Pokémon Master. If you've played the old games, you will be right at home. But not all is the same.

The most obvious change is in the battles themselves. Now that two Pokémon can fight on your side at the same time, you can tag-team them against an enemy by taking advantage of the strengths of your Pokémons while covering their weaknesses. For example, you can now have a water Pokémon watch your fire Pokémon's back. You can also attack more than one Pokémon at a time.

A whole new element to the game focuses on how berries are used in battle. And if you collect enough berries, you can take them to a Berry Blender and make a PokéBlock, which is a little super-charged candy that raises your Pokémon's "Condition" attributes. You can then groom your Pokémon for regional contests and compete for ribbons like "Best of Show," which will unlock additional contests. There's even strategy in how to best use your berries: pick too many and the berry tree will disappear; plant berries, though, and a tree will grow. You can also build a Secret Base in special areas of the game, which you can decorate just like you can your room.

And let us not forget that Pokémon Ruby has a kickin' multiplayer system, too. You can trade Pokémon, and link up to four players for incredible battles. The only downside is that you can't link up with the old Game Boy Color games. --Bryan Karsh

Pros:

  • You can control two Pokémon in battle
  • Much needed graphic and sound facelift
  • Nice multiplayer feature (requires link cable and extra game cartridge)
Cons:
  • Can't trade Pokémon with Game Boy Color

A Must Have for any Pokemon Fan.... (2009-04-13)
Pokemon Ruby is a Game Boy Advance game that can also be played on the Nintendo DS. It's set up is very familiar and easy to follow, but becomes more challenging as the game goes on. To any Pokemon fan, it's a must have and with out it, leaves an incomplete collection.....

More Pokemon fun (2009-02-25)
My two granddaughters have enjoyed this game and have played it for hours. They would recommend it to other Pokemon fans.

Great tips to help you on the long run and get your moneysworth! (2009-02-24)
ok ruby feautures a ground type pokemon called groudon who controls land and the sun and your fighting with team aqua, and against team magma. now here are some great tips!

For groudon, stock up on ultra balls and other helpful items. dont blow your master ball on him, go after latios, the pokemon that runs rampid after you beat the elite four.

take time to find rare candies! they help your pokemon grow quickly!

If your a beginner at the game, pick mudkip as a starter. when you have swampert with one ice type move, you can beat drake, the dragon guy of the elite four and steven, the champion who uses steel types.

Some pokemon take a while to raise but you can find them early off in the game. Like aron, you can find him in granite cave in dewford town. Catch him and train him to get a tough agronn.

and heres how you can get regirock, regice, registeel, and rayquaza. For the regis, you must find the selaed chamber, west from pacifilog town. get a wailord and relicanth and put one first in ur list and one last to get the right order after you use dig to get even deeper into the cave. dont translate braile, just trust me. once you do, go find the thre caves hidden around the desert near mauville, fortree, and off mr brineys house in the sea. Rayquaza is at sky pillar near pacifolog. You can catch him after you become champion.

And last but not least, to find mirage island you must have the wynaut that has hatched from the gift from the lady in lavaridge town. Have him when you talk to the man to see mirage island. Hope you liked the help!

wondeful game (2008-12-20)
The game is wonderful. The kids love it! Keeps them entertained for a long time.

This game is the complete Super NES game PLUS an all-new four-player game that is both competitive and cooperative. In the main game, A Link to the Past, Link receives a telepathic message from Zelda, imploring him to help. Link answers the call and finds himself traveling throughout the Light World to restore peace to the land. Only when he climbs to the top of Death Mountain and discovers a mysterious shimmering tile does he realize that his quest is far from over; in fact, the tile transports him to a different, yet strangely familiar, world. He must then travel back and forth between the two linked worlds to finally defeat Ganon and bring peace to the land of Hyrule.

In the multiplayer game, The Four Swords, up to four players take on the roles of young adventurers who answer a challenge from the Triforce: They must brave the dangers of multiple dungeons in a quest to find the Master Sword. Their strength will be tested by fierce monsters, their wisdom tested by complex puzzles, and their courage tested by having to cooperate with each other to overcome obstacles.

Awesome (2009-05-07)
This is probbobly the only Zelda game I really like, and I can remember playing it on SNES. Now, for the GBA, I can relieve all those memories. It is a really fun game to play, you can waste hours on it, and I highly recommend it. it is a must for any zelda fan!

16 Years Later...I FINALLY BEAT YOU! (2009-03-30)
That's right 'A Link To The Past', I bought you when you first came out on Super Nintendo. You were one of my first games and I loved you dearly. I must have invested hundreds of hours playing you, searching for all the fractions of hearts, digging with the shovel in places I shouldn't have been digging. I would hop between worlds like it was a revolving door and try to murder the invincible chickens. I'd play your mini-games until I was a grand master at shooting those squids in the shop 5 out of 5 times!

But you know what I never did? I never kicked the crap out of Ganon and beat the game!!! It was either because it was too hard, I was too distracted, or I was too confused as to where that last key was in the Ice Palace (YouTube'd that nonsense) but I never conquered you.

Fast forward to November 2008: I'm in Iraq with a pink Nintendo DS my wife gave me and a lot of free time on my hands. So I order you, and oh the nostalgia! I still remembered nearly every little trick 17 years later, and this time Ganon, instead of meeting an idle 8-year old with a low attention span you find yourself squaring up with a battle-hardened 24-year old weapon of the U.S. Army...with a slightly higher attention span. But you find yourself suddenly lacking, and you stink of fear. My silver arrows cut your fleshy pig skin to shreds, and for the first time ever Zelda is overwhelmed by my machismo. The TriForce is in the hands of a benevolent ruler once more and we celebrate until dawn; I make bacon for breakfast with the flesh of my enemy.

This game is the pinnacle of video game greatness. I didn't play `Four Swords' so I have nothing to say about that portion, but it doesn't get better than `A Link To The Past'.

This game gets 1000 Stars and 3 Conjoined Triangles!

Zelda 4 Life (2009-03-10)
Zelda: A Link To The Past was the first game that I remember loving from beginning to end. It is amazingly fun. It isn't too difficult to play (I'm basing this on the fact that I orginally played it and beat it when I was in elementary school), it has interesting stories for the individual characters you meet in the game, and the gameplay is nearly perfect. Someone might argue that the graphics aren't spectacular, but that is besides the point. Honestly, graphics are the last thing you should consider when purchasing a game if it has a decent story and near perfect controls like A Link To The Past does.

You start off as an average young lad who wakes up after hearing the voice of a girl. It is the middle of the night when you see your Uncle/Dad prepare to leave with his shield and sword. Of course, you go after him in the middle of the night during a rainstorm. How about that for some visual presence? Anyway, you make your way to the castle and begin your adventure to rescue Zelda across several castle/dungeons, bosses, and two worlds.

I still own and play the SNES version. I recently purchased a Nintendo DS Lite and purchased the Game Boy Advance version of this game since the NDS Lite can play GBA games. It's still great on the small screen. The game has been updated with some images and sounds from the Windwaker game --which is also a great Zelda game, so I can't complain for those changes to be honest.

My only complaint is probably not worth mentioning unless you are soley purchasing a GBA or NDS handheld system to play this game: The buttons are backwards on the game pad (A, B, X, Y). It'll take some getting used to the difference, which is kind of annoying that that was even done. But, the game is so great that I got over it.

Happy Gaming!

An instant Zelda classic! (2009-01-10)
The SNES classic, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past has come to the GBA! What could be better than having one of the best Zelda games ever to play anywhere? Plus, the cartridge includes an bonus game...the first multiplayer Zelda ever, Four Swords!
(Note: I will not go over the story in this review.)

To start, the GBA port of A Link to the Past is almost an exact copy of the original. The dimension-swapping gameplay and puzzles are still there. The game's controls are intact and translate well onto the GBA. The (in my opinion) minor changes include some dialogue revisions and edits, and the addition of yelps and grunts when Link swings his sword (like in Ocarina of Time).

The game is action-packed and challenging. The dungeons and bosses are as fun as ever. The lineup of tried-and-true items expands with some cool new ones. The difficulty level is perfect. The puzzles make you think a little bit and that makes beating the dungeons all the more satisfying.

The music is great! The game includes all the classic Zelda tunes and some new ones that are just as catchy!

The graphics have aged well over the years. They looked so good, I was almost fooled into thinking this was a game made originally for the GBA.

As for Four Swords, it's true that it's the first multiplayer Zelda game. But, there's a catch. The game can ONLY be played with 2-players or more. It works via GBA to GBA link cables. Each player must also have their own copy of the cartridge in order to play. For those who get to play, they must work cooperatively and competitively with the other player(s). Also a nice feature is as you progress in one game, extras can be unlocked in the other game.

Even for the fans who might be disappointed by Four Swords, this game is still worth buying just for the chance to play A Link to the Past again, or for the very first time!

Married a Zelda fan (2008-09-12)
Bought this for my husband ...a big Zelda fan. He has played it multiple time and now has our oldest child into playing as well. If you have been a fan of previous Zelda games you will be a fan of this as well.

Pokemon Emerald is an extension of Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire -- you'll travel to an all-new region and explore as you face off against Team Aqua and Team Magma. An aspiring Pokemon trainer moves to tiny Littleroot Town and discovers all-new Pokemon to train and compete with -- now he's on the road to being a great trainer!
Amazon.com Product Description
Are you looking for a new Pokemon challenge? With a focus on continuing the story, Pokemon Emerald brings together elements and characters from Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. Emerald is the third adventure to take place in the Hoenn region, and it features all new areas and exciting new plot twists.

In Pokemon Emerald, your character is an aspiring Pokemon Trainer and new inhabitant of Littleroot Town. You'll enter the neighborhood amid a truckload of boxes, eager to explore your new environment. Eventually, you'll stumble upon a challenge that forces you to select from three Pokemon -- Torchic, Mudkip or Treecko. Once you decide, you can begin your quest to become the world's greatest Pokemon Trainer.

If you've played the Ruby or Sapphire installments, you'll recognize many of the locations in Emerald. Although familiar, quite a lot has changed in Emerald. The most exciting addition is Battle Frontier. No matter how well you think you know Hoenn, you will always discover something entirely new. Plus, you may even encounter a new Gym Leader in your journeys.

You are up against stiff competition in Emerald. Team Magma and Team Aqua once again look to disrupt the peaceful civility of Hoenn. Unlike Ruby and Sapphire, both gangs have set up camp in this adventure. That means you'll be facing double-the-evil, double-the-clever, scheming plans. To really spice things up, Emerald has added sightings of the rare Pokemon Rayquaza. The plot thickens!

The Battle Frontier of Pokemon Emerald brings together seven battle facilities. Each area provides a unique battle experience. Special Trainers called Frontier Brains head each facility and they will test every aspect of your combat skills. Your victories will be memorialized in the form of Frontier Symbols, and you must defeat the Frontier Brain at each location several times in order to earn your awards.

With new locations like Battle Dome, Battle Arena, Battle Factory, and Battle Pike, Pokemon Emerald will throw you awesome new twists and challenges. The new adventure in Hoenn is full of adventure and has plenty of opportunities to hone your battle skills. Just keep your composure, explore the island, and you can become the world's greatest Pokemon Trainer.

Pokemon Emerald Review (2009-05-02)
Horrific. Do you guys test your used games at all? It frequently loses its save game and was a waste of money. I work hard for my money and don't appreciate losing it on a product that was obvious on first use didn't work correctly.

Old School Game with a New School Style (2009-04-27)
I looked for a while for a game that could somehow mirror the time I spent into my childhood favorites Pokemon Red and Blue. I looked in systems like Xbox 360, PC games, and hand-held games, and it became apparent that the only way I'll ever recreate the magic I had when I was 7 at 17 was with, once again, Pokemon. But by now, I could no longer pick up the old Pokemon Red or Blue and play. I've played the game so many times and abused the Missing No. glitch too much to get anything new, so I took a risk in a newer Pokemon game. I'm still partial to the original 151 Pokemon, but I was drawn into the game just as quickly as I was for the original, and as a bonus, it's been weeks, and I STILL have so much to do in the game, and I have trouble setting it down. The only negative I can think of is losing some sleep due to playing it a bit too much at night.

My son loves it!! (2009-04-21)
I have to say, my son hasn't been disappointed in any of the Pokemon games yet. Great game.

Pokemon Emerald (2009-03-20)
I love pokemon. Great game. Alot of fun and very addicting. I just wish they would make a game like this for the bigger systems. One that you can actually go and catch pokemon like on the TV show. Until they get smart enough to do that, I will continue to have fun with what they have out.
