Following Yo-Yo's cello has led us to some really wonderful music over the years.
He has so much fun with his musician friends & shares it with us!
This particular body of work is surprisingly varied & delightful any season of the year.
Nothing grates or irritates, and it all flows so nicely that I have to listen again when it ends.
This CD introduced me to Renee Fleming who sings a Blossom Dearie tune so lusciously that it will make you weep.
Songs of Joy & Peace fits well into my preferences since many of these musicians have been in my ears for years.
Solid, beautiful music here which I generously recommend to your listening ears.

What is So Good About Amazon Kindle 2 Wireless Reading Device?

When the book retailer Amazon first came on the scene, it introduced the online bookstore to us. This time round, it has taken that move one step further by offering its merchandise in electronic form. All this is done through a new wireless reading device called the Amazon Kindle. Night Castle (2 CD) Best Review

I just bought this album last week. While I do this Transiberian Orchestra is really good and all, I only found a few tracks on this that I listen to every night before I go to bed. Night Enchanted, Childhood Dreams, The Mountain, Night Castle, Toccata-Carpimus Noctem and Lion's Roar. However, I've only had this for a week so I'm bound to find others that I like.


To be honest, I LOVE Night Enchanted. It's a shame that TSO doesn't release singles and all since it's an Orchestra. I seriously think that if they were ever given the chance (or option, something), a music video would be very cool. As long as it has a choir in it too that's fine. Otherwise you'll probably wonder where all the great vocals would be coming from. (Something Halloween-like since the album is called Night Castle.)

Another GREAT title from an AWESOME Band - CH3NO2 -
We attend the groups Christmas shows every year, and they had been talking about making this album at their shows for awhile, so anticipation was pretty high. Again TSO delivered!! I can listen to this over and over again. If you have never heard the groups music you should check them out, then go see a live show. "YOU WILL BE BLOWN AWAY" Then we were lucky enough to get to see the spring show for BLN. AMAZING!!!

has been one of my favorite groups for a very long time. Being a fan of both classical and metal, this band combines both eloquently. Unusual mixtures of music and covers mostly mainline "special occasion" music modified somewhat "Trans-Siberian" style. Download was quick and reliable (my most feared factor). I highly recommend both the music and the Amazon download. Great music at a great price !

It's ok... Today I am going to share with you the simple process for downloading MP3s onto your PSP. Once you understand these simple steps you will be well on your way to downloading MP3s to your PSP with ease.

Here Are The Basics:

The simplest way for you to download MP3s to PSP is by using a USB cable in order to connect your computer with your PSP. If you don't have a USB cable you should be able to find a cheap one at your local electronic store.

Once you have your USB cable ready you will need to plug it into the PSP and your computer using the USB port.

Side Note: Please make sure that you 'enable' the USB connection on your PSP. To do this simply go to the menu screen on your PSP and click on the system settings, then when you see the USB connection click 'enable.'

Next you will need to go to your computers start menu and click on 'my computer.' Look for the PSP icon or the removable disc icon and click on it. Once that icon has opened you should see a folder called 'MUSIC.'

If you don't see the folder then you will have to create a new one. Make sure that you call it MUSIC and that you spell it out in capital letters.

Once that has been set up all you have to do is drag and drop your MP3s into that folder. And now you can relax... thats it. That's all you have to do to download MP3 to PSP.

I'm not going to extensively review the original "Exile on Main Street." It's without a doubt a five star record...a classic. But the buzz on this one is the remastering and the extra tracks. In terms of the remastering, though I didn't do a side by side comparison, I don't sonically notice much that is different. So, on to the extra tracks: There are a few good ones as well as an embryonic version of Tumbling Dice with alternate lyrics and a couple of other throw-aways. Do I regret the purchase? Not at all. Do I think it's just a way to suck more money out of Stones fans? Again, no. It's a worthwhile addition for those who want a complete collection, or for those who for some insane reason don't already own this album, a necessity.

Exile on Main Street Overview

Regarded as one of the greatest albums in rock 'n' roll history and one of the most defining of the Stones' catalogue. Upon its release more than three decades ago, 'Exile on Main Street' innovatively wove varying musical genres, instruments and even artists into a compelling rhythmic masterpiece. The original 18-track double-album was recorded in various stages at multiple locations, including Olympic Studios in London, Keith Richard's mansion Nellcote in France, and in Los Angeles where the literal "Main Street" influenced the album title. These atypical circumstances surrounding the recording process greatly affected the album's outcome which was highly reflective and influenced by the sociopolitical turbulence that marked the late `60s and early `70s. The Stones nixed the influences of a flower-child era and directed their creative process with the edgier, excessive, "more is more" approach of the `70s. Exile reveals a sprawling mix of genres with undertones of blues, country, R&B and gospel mixed with lyrics that fervently demand for release and liberation. The 2-CD version is a 3-panel digi-pak, 2xCDs with a 12 page booklet. The Digipak is printed in reverse board double white to keep an 'uncoated' feel like the original LP release. The 2nd disc features 10 tracks originally recorded during the Exile era including 'Plundered My Soul', 'Dancing in the Light', 'Following the River' and 'Pass The Wine' plus alternate versions of 'Soul Survivor' and 'Loving Cup'.

From the swaggering frustration in the first song ("I only get my rocks off while I'm sleeping," Mick Jagger sings in the hyper "Rocks Off"), the Stones speed through familiar neighborhoods of country, blues, and R&B on Exile. They never even bother to stop when they've crashed into something. They don't leap into new worlds so much as master the old ones, turning Slim Harpo's blues obscurity "Hip Shake" into a harp-and-piano steamroller and setting spines a-cracking in "Ventilator Blues." Both "Tumbling Dice" and Keith Richards's "Happy" have become hits, but the 1972 album is most notable for its overall murky adrenaline. --Steve Knopper

This movie is destined to become one of your favorites in your DVD collection. If you've never seen the play, by all means watch this movie. I do not know how many times I've listened to this CD, but every time I do, I experience all the joy that comes with the music. I have yet to see the musical, but the book is good and I love the movie, particularily for this music. The singers are incredible, the notes that are hit seem impossibly perfect. The lyrics truly move me, they are so beautiful and flow so melliflously. For anyone appreciative of music, I suggest this phenomenal soundtrack.

Review Michael Jackson: This Is It (Limited Edition Blu-ray & DVD Combo Pack)

I am a fan of MJ's going all the way back to the music from the early days of the Jackson Five. After being incredibly saddened by his untimely passing, I put off seeing this on cable for months. Partly because I was still mourning the loss of one of my childhood heroes. And partly because I didn't want to watch it and see a frail shadow of the man we knew in the 80's, performing old hits in poor voice and with half-a*s dancing. After all, the media had made it out to seem like he was on his last legs preparing for this tour, in horrible condition physically and musically. Ha, was I ever wrong, and so were his critics.

I watched this from start to finish and despite it's long length, I could have watched much more. This is truly mesmerizing- the MJ of the eighties was still there, but a new intensity and sultry attitude made him seem more powerful and enigmatic than ever. His backing musicians and especially his backup dancers are the best I've ever seen, and their complete love and devotion for MJ and the tour they were sadly never to embark on was obvious. Love poured out of this whole film- I've never seen such a group of talented, focused, dedicated people come together. It was extraordinary. The old hits were there- "Stop the Love" and "I Want You Back" from the Jackson 5 heyday. "Billie Jean", "Beat It" and "Thriller" (which included a fabulously remastered version of the Vincent Price "rap"- I swear, it sounded like Vincent had come back to life it my living room, it was so crystalline and vibrant). A spectacular rendition of "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" (never one of my favorites) had Michael singing better than he did on the "Bad" album, from which the song originally came. I couldn't believe what a fifty-year-old man was accomplishing vocally and in his dancing. There were more songs, but the standouts, which I did not at all expect, were "They Don't Really Care About Us" and "Earth Song". "Earth Song", especially, just got me down to the core. I had to fight back tears watching the indescribable video which was shot as a backdrop to this song, with MJ's lovely tenor singing lyrics that tore into me like a knife. Even writing this review, I find it hard not to recall what I watched without tears coming forth. The wonderful part was they played virtually every song in it's entirety, not just little snippets like some annoying DVD's of other singers. It really was like watching a whole MJ concert.

Michael's voice was clear and the high notes were sung as well as he ever had as an adult, maybe better. And the dancing, my God- Michael was as lithe, fit and magical as ever on stage. His trademark precision and flexibility were on full display and he showed no signs of aging other than saving his voice for the actual concert. If he was not up to par here, I would say it. The MJ I saw in this movie was clear-headed, with the same phenomenal and futuristic vision that made us all stop and watch his ground-breaking videos in the 80's. He wasn't at all the foggy-minded, lost soul the media portrayed- he was a loving but strong and decisive man on this ill-fated tour. Let me tell you- all the skeptics, the naysayers and liars would be silenced after watching this. I feel incredibly sorry for the people who worked so hard on a tour that would never come to be, a tour they thought would be the highlight of their career.

I will be buying this because I loved it so much, and hope the money goes to his wonderful children. Thank you, MJ, wherever you are, for this final gift. I hope your murderer spends the rest of his life rotting in prison, as was said in "The Green Mile", knowing he killed one of God's true miracles. May people remember you forever. I know I will.

Great Music from the King of Pop - Kristin Thomas -
Michael Jackson died before he could make his comeback but he left a us an idea of what could have been his best yet. Watching this in the theater was fun but at the same time it was hard to because you seeing The King of Pop at his best but then you relize he is gone. Amazing how he did things and it made me wish it had been longer. i know his kids miss him but i hope that have comfort that they aren't alone and he is watching over them...

Michael, my angel, from heaven above,
Who came and was overflowing with sweetness and love,
You inspiered me to tell nothing but the truth,
To start with the man in the mirror,
To Change myself before I judge others,
To be kind and loving as you would have,
To smile even when I'm feeling sad,
You taught me to put others before myself,
To care about our planets health,
You showed me the great importance of love,
Love, Love, Love,
When ohters watched and believed the lies,
The press laughed as their disguise,
To hide the man that you really were,
The manh that was constantly looking for a cure,
You loved us children and wanted to help,
Especially the sick ones with no wealth,
People laughed at the look of your face,
And the tone of your voice, could they find a base?
But not me, I see honesty in your eyes,
Grace, tenderness, humility are all there,
You didn't respond when people critizized you,
They kicked you, beat you, tortured you,
But not one word came out of your mouth,
You knew that they wern't worth the time you had,
You wanted to spend it better, to have some fun,
A kid at heart, Michael was,
You sang what you felt,
Emotions came out through your feet,
Through your dance moves, your hands, it was all so complete,
On many occasions when I am alone,
Feeling dark, lonely, and very unknown,
I see your face,
Filled with grace,
And I know your here to encourage me,
To tell me that you've been there too,
To help me out, of my little cocoon,
To spread my wings, to help me fly,

Rush - Beyond the Lighted Stage [2 DVD] Best Review

Ever since I picked up 2112 in 1976 at a Kerr Drug store in Cary NC at the tender age of 14 I've been mesmerized with this band. I've always wondered back then through A Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres, etc. who these guys really were and from 'Canada'? I use to sit night after night listening to their albums throughout middle school and high school. I did lose some interest in the 'keyboard' years as I believe others had, but in 1989 while in Grad school I picked up Presto and it was like meeting old friends again. This movie showed me things I never knew about these guys. I thought it was great to see their parents in the movie. It really brings home the fact these 3 guys are really just regular guys who wanted to play music. I was the same way many years ago, but never pursued it, but at least I could live it through Geddy, Alex and Neil. Been waiting for a documentary on this band and this hits a home run.

Humble beginnings, strong friendships, and a work ethic beyond "dedicated" turned Rush into the true "Rock Supergroup". Straddling the line between "progressive" and "rock", they've taken us on a journey over 30 years in the making, and show no signs of slowing down.

I won't rehash what has been written here, but---you simply have to see this documentary if you're a fan of ANY kind of music. Young, old, musician, non-musican, aspiring musician---all will be awed and impressed by both the humility and the skill of these three men and their no-compromise approach and willingness to let down their guards (at least Ged and Lexrst, anyways---the Professor, well, will always be "guarded", and that'll never change). Following them through their lives with input from their parents and seeing how they developed is inspiring.

Just get it. You'll not be disappointed.
